REVELATION 6:7–8

Hello, eschatologists! The last post I sent out was on the study of the first four seals. However, I decided that I wanted to expound on the fourth seal as there is more information that I felt needed to be said. I wanted to expand on the idea that people have in thinking that the end time Antichrist will be a person that will rule the world. So this post will be an expansion of Revelation 6:7–8. So, without further ado…

REVELATION 6:7–8

The Time of Wars Affects One-Fourth of the Earth

Rev. 6:7 And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see. 8 And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.

When the Lamb opened the fourth seal, the last beast said, “Come.” A rider on a pale horse came forth. The rider’s name was death and hell followed after him. In this verse, death and hell are being personified, given human-like qualities.

I want to draw your focus to this phrase: “And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth….” The rider on the pale horse, who is death, was given power over a one-fourth part of the earth. What that means is that the time of wars and rumors of wars will focus primarily in “one-fourth” part of the earth, a specific part of the world. The prophecies in the book of Daniel reveal that the one-fourth part of the earth where these ten kings and the little horn will emerge will be the Middle East.

This brings us to a very important detail that should not be overlooked. The biblical prophecies regarding end times all have to do with the Middle East and its relationship with Israel. The prophecies are specific to that geographic area and not the whole world. No doubt, the chaos will spill over onto the whole world and the nations will be drawn into the chaos. Certainly, they will react in various ways and in varying degrees to what is happening in the Middle East, but in the end, the majority of killing and warring will be located in the one-fourth part of the world known as the Middle East.

Why is that important for us to know?

There are those that have the idea that Antichrist will rule the world. But it’s a wrong idea. Unfortunately, this idea is prevalent. That’s what I want to talk about in this post. If you’re one of those people that thinks Antichrist will rule the world, I want to set your thinking straight. It’s not scriptural.

One-World Government

Very often, when people discuss end time prophecies, the conversation usually turns to the subject of one-world government. The first time I heard about a plot to bring about the establishment of a one-world government was decades ago. In truth, I had never heard anyone in real life talk about it. It was just something that was on the Internet. I read a couple of articles about a secretive group made up of the world’s most wealthy people who schemed to recreate the world according to their liking. They were called the Illuminati. With a cartoonish name like the Illuminati, I couldn’t take this information seriously. Some did take this information seriously and were convinced the Antichrist figure would be the leader of this one-world government. I thought it was just a conspiracy.

Then I heard one of America’s wealthiest men talk about this very thing on a late-night cable show. This was a few decades ago; he has since passed away. He talked in a braggadocio way about being part of a group made up of the world’s wealthiest people. The purpose of their meeting was to brainstorm ideas on how to put an end to constant wars. The group realized that down through history, most wars were fought because of disputes between nations or religion. Their solution was to strip the nations of their regional and nationalistic identities… to get rid of borders. And in this utopian world of theirs, there would be no more need for religion. They concluded that if you eliminate borders and religion, you can achieve world peace. (Great wealth doesn’t mean great intelligence. Taking away people’s religion is the very reason why people go to war.) Then down through the years, more information about this secretive group began to leak out, confirming its grandiose plans for the nations.

Well, guess what? The secret group is secret no more. It’s actually a real group, not a conspiracy theory. Presently, this elitist group of billionaires who advocate for a one-world government are out in the open now. Well, not entirely. The group consists of the world’s wealthiest people and they meet yearly in Davos, Switzerland for a week-long event called the World Economic Forum (WEF). Not just anybody can attend. It’s by invite only. Those that show up uninvited, like reporters, will likely get arrested. So they’re not entirely out in the open.

In 1971, the WEF was founded by a man named Klaus Schwab from Germany for the purpose of moving the world toward a one-world government. That’s not fiction. It’s actually part of their mission statement. This group is choc-a-bloc with grandiose ideas. Just listen to the pompous words uttered by Klaus Schwab at the latest meeting: “The future is not just happening. The future is built by us by a powerful community as you here in this room. We have the means to improve the states of the world.”

But truthfully, the WEF isn’t the only scheming group. There is another group known as the Bilderberg Group which has been around since 1954. Its original agenda was to prevent another world war, but it has evolved over time. Denis Healey, who is a group founder said in 2001, “To say we were striving for a one-world government is exaggerated, but not wholly unfair. Those of us in Bilderberg felt we couldn’t go on forever fighting one another for nothing and killing people and rendering millions homeless. So we felt that a single community throughout the world would be a good thing.”

Then there’s the European Union which has its own designs for a one-world government. And don’t forget about China, which is hellbent on world domination. No doubt there are lesser-known entities that have their own dreams of world conquest.

What is my point in telling you all this? Yes, there really is a plot, a serious plot, to create a one-world government. It’s in the works, and powerful people are involved in machinations to move the world in that direction. No doubt, you’ve heard the terms “new world order” and “the great reset”; these are terms associated with bringing about this one-world government.

I’m acknowledging that these plots are real. But here’s the deal. The scheme to create a one-world government and the end time prophecies about the Antichrist figure are not one in the same. People wrongly conflate the two, but they are two separate things. Antichrist is not prophesied to be the leader of a one-world government. I’ll say it again: it’s not scriptural.

Let’s talk about what is scriptural.

First, I want to remind you what the book of Revelation is about. It is a prophecy of the events that will happen during Daniel’s 70th week. If perchance you are unfamiliar with the term “Daniel’s 70th week,” let me give you a brief summation. It is in reference to Daniel’s 70-weeks prophecy in Daniel 9:24: “Seventy weeks are determined for your people and for your holy city, to finish the transgression, to make an end of sins, to make reconciliation for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the Most Holy.”

An angel told Daniel that at the end of 70 weeks, the Jewish people would be reconciled with God. These 70 weeks are not weeks of days, but rather weeks of years, totaling 490 years. Sixty-nine of those weeks have been fulfilled. After the 69th week, the fulfillment of the prophecy was put on pause. When the events of Revelation are triggered, it will be the fulfillment of the 70th week.

Let’s look at what else is scriptural. I want you to consider the phrase: “Seventy weeks are determined for your people and for your holy city.” The angel told Daniel that the 70-weeks prophecy is “for your people and for your holy city.” Daniel’s people are the Jewish people and the holy city is Jerusalem. So, the 70-weeks prophecy concerns the Jewish people and the city of Jerusalem. Revelation is about Jerusalem… not the whole world, meaning all 195 nations. Revelation is about the Jewish people… not all the people of the world.

And then we are told what will be accomplished at the end of the 70 weeks: “to finish the transgression, to make an end of sins, to make reconciliation for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the Most Holy.” This is talking about the Jewish people coming to terms with their sin against God and getting right with Him. It’s about the plan of God for Israel coming to pass. Let me say it again… Daniel’s 70th week is about the Jewish people getting right with God. It’s not about all the world.

Here is what else is scriptural about Antichrist. When the little horn becomes the beast, the length of his reign as the beast will only be the last half of Daniel’s 70th week, which is 3 ½ years! He along with his false prophet will do monstrous things, but 3 ½ years is not enough time to conquer the entire world! There are 193 countries that are recognized in the world. Can we really give serious thought to Antichrist conquering 193 nations in 3 ½ years? Antichrist ruling the entire world is a wrong idea. In practicality, it doesn’t make sense and cannot be supported scripturally.

What can be supported scripturally is that in the end, Antichrist’s empire will be ten nations strong. And of those ten, he will have conquered only three of them. This is symbolized by the little horn uprooting three of the ten horns in Daniel’s vision in Daniel 7:7–8. The other kings will voluntarily submit to his leadership in some kind of union (Rev. 17:16).

Another reason why many think Antichrist will control the whole world is because of phrases like these: “all the world wondered after the beast… and all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him… (Rev. 13:3, 8). The King James translators translated certain words in a way that makes it sound as if all the world would worship the beast, despite other verses of scripture that say otherwise. The Greek words ge (earth) and oikoumene (world) can be translated to mean many different things. They can be translated as the universe, the whole entire earth, or a portion of land within certain boundaries, a country, an empire, or just simply the ground, or dirt. Thus, we can conclude that when it says the “whole world” or “all the earth,” it doesn’t necessarily mean all the nations in the whole world. Most often, it just means that one-fourth area of the world, the Middle East.

In conclusion, you can see that the idea of Antichrist ruling over the whole world cannot be supported scripturally. So when it comes to the Antichrist, let’s stick to what is scriptural and skip the rest.

Don’t Fear, Trust God

I wanted to share with you one last thing. It can be scary to think about how powerful people are using their vast wealth and power to force the world into a one-world government whether we like it or not. The events we see taking place in the world are scary. We’ve never seen this level of lawlessness before, and you can’t help but feel like all of civilization is racing down the path to destruction. Watching the ungodly working overtime to take this nation down a path away from God made me feel in anguish. But when I was praying about the spirit of lawlessness in America, the Lord comforted me. I wanted to share with you how He comforted me in hopes that it will comfort you too.

While in prayer, I saw an unusual vision in my mind’s eye. I saw myself inside what I would call a glass room, and this glass room was situated high above the earth, overlooking America. There was a man standing in front of the glass looking down at the activities of man. I instinctively knew that he was a watcher, like Daniel 4:13 talks about. I was standing behind the man, and though I didn’t see them, I was aware that there were other people, other pray-ers, in the glass room. The man was intensely watching the activity on the earth, so much so that it seemed as though he was unaware of others around him. He watched the unsaved working furiously to turn America into something God never meant for her to be. It seemed as though he was taken aback by the intensity of their effort. He then uttered the words, “They’re working so hard.” There was a woman standing to the side of the man and she asked, “Sir, will they succeed?” The man replied, “They failed before they even began.”

So take heart, brothers and sisters in the Lord, you can rest assured God’s plans for America will not be derailed. As long as we are faithful to do our part in this great end time move of God, the Lord will restore her to her former glory.
